05 May 2014 Update

Happy May everyone. Time is flying by and there is no real change. As expected this past week was cold and rained every single day. I managed to get some of my stuff moved and get some of my plans start falling into place. Each time I cross something off my 'to do list' I seem to be adding two new things to it.

I have four days of work left ... just 4! This coming Friday I officially move out of my apartment and head to Pennsylvania where I will get to visit my mom in time for Mothers Day and visit some friends that are long over due for a visit. I want to thank everybody for all their words of encouragement. I am still a long way from my fundraising goal and will have an event at some point in PA still working out details and will most likely need some help. I will keep everyone posted as things progress.

No Change in Fundraising ... Still need $145 to reach Glendive, MT geographically and $684 to reach 80% of my goal ($4300).

28 April 2014 Update

ONE MONTH that is all that is left before we start pedaling from Bar Harbor, ME west towards the Pacific Ocean. It has begun to sink in how unprepared I am. I still need to move everything out of my apartment, sell a large portion of my stuff and get everything in order before I head first to Pennsylvania and then to Maine. I also need to get myself in tour ready shape, and complete my fundraising.

I need to apologize for the lack of updates. I haven't been out on my bike much, the weather in Iowa has flirted with a few days of spring but its been cold, wet and windy. I took this week off work to get everything set but every day is suppose to be cold and wet.

I have had two successful fundraisers lately. I need to thank everyone from my work for all the help and donations. The first was a bake sale on April 18th which raised $316 and the second was a breakfast fundraiser today April 28th that raised $220.

So far I have raised $2756. This is far short of my goal of $4300. If you look at it geographically (at $1 per mile) I still need $1539 to reach the Pacific Ocean. However just like while riding I like setting smaller goals. As of now I have enough to cover from Bar Harbor, ME to Hebron, ND along our route at $1 per mile. I only need $145 more to reach Glendive, MT and finish the 12th of 15 states.
